Yes. Explicit language tracks are filtered by default to maintain a family-friendly atmosphere. Businesses that wish to include explicit content can adjust this setting from their dashboard.
Core Music uses commercially released artist recordings — the music you would hear on the radio — giving your venue a familiar, professional sound. Royalty-Free Music uses a licence-free library of professionally produced tracks that does not require a public performance licence.
Both services include the same scheduling and dashboard features. The difference is the music source, the monthly cost, and the licensing position. See our Royalty-Free and Core Music pages for a full comparison.
Playlists are collections of tracks curated around a specific theme, mood, genre, or occasion, designed for playback in order or on shuffle. Schedules determine when each playlist plays — by day, time slot, and occasion.
PlaylistToday’s scheduling tools manage the full content flow, ensuring the right music is playing at the right time throughout your business day, including seasonal and event-based variations.
The Royalty-Free Music Service uses a licensing model where PlaylistToday pays rights holders directly on behalf of subscribers. Writers, performers, producers, and artists receive compensation through PlaylistToday’s reporting to catalogue owners. Subscribers pay a single monthly or annual fee — no separate public performance licence is required for this service.
Our library spans Pop, R&B/Soul, Rock/Indie, Jazz, Dance, Folk, Lounge, and many more. Playlists are curated for specific venue types and times of day, so there’s always something that fits your atmosphere.
Yes. You can upload and schedule images, videos, and promotional messages through the dashboard, fully tailored to your brand. Content can be assigned to specific screens, times of day, or dates.
Setup is straightforward. Register for an account, choose your plan, and follow our step-by-step guide to configure your digital displays. Screen Media can be used standalone or alongside any music subscription.
As often as you like. The platform supports real-time updates so your displays stay fresh and relevant. There is no limit on how frequently you can change or add content.
Screen Media is well suited to retail stores, restaurants, hotels, healthcare venues, leisure centres, and any business looking to enhance customer engagement through digital displays. It works especially well for promoting offers, events, and brand messaging alongside background music.
Once your device is set up and content has downloaded, an ongoing network connection is not required for daily playback. All content is cached locally on the media player, so music and screens continue uninterrupted even if your internet drops.
We recommend connecting at least once every 30 days to validate your subscription and download any schedule updates or new content.

A Site is the physical location where your PlaylistToday player is installed and content plays. Each site represents a single business premises and has its own address, settings, and subscription. Multiple sites can be managed from one account.
A Zone is any area within a site that plays content from a single output or channel. For example, a hotel playing the same music in its lobby, bar, and restaurant from one output counts as one zone. If a separate channel is added for the spa, that becomes a second zone.
Multiple zones let you tailor the music or screen experience to each distinct space within your venue.
